I received with great joy the news of your victory at the Kaduna Division of the Court of Appeal which declared you winner of the Ekiti South Senatorial election conducted on February 23, 2019.
I recall your stirling leadership as Minority Leader in the Eighth Senate and your excellent representation of your constituents of Ekiti South during which I also represented the good people of Plateau South Senatorial District.
I am glad that you held tenaciously to your people’s mandate before the law just as I also am undertaking on behalf of the people of Plateau State on the governorship seat.
I pray for God’s protection in your life and His marvellous grace to power you for even greater works.
Congratulations!
Lt. Gen (Rtd) Sen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni, DSS, Fwc, mni, CFR
I heartily congratulate and express happiness with you on the approval of your appointment by the Holy Father, Pope Francis as the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, our nation’s capital.
I note with gratitude to the Almighty God your track record of humble but determined, selfless and resourceful service as Archbishop of the Jos Catholic Archdiocese from the year 2000 till date. To God be the glory!
I am hopeful too in the Lord that the Archdiocese of Abuja will draw alot from the strength of your godly wisdom, calmness, motivation and even bluntness in upholding the cause of the weak, needy and disadvantaged in society.
I pray God to protect, guide and bless you immensely in this holy ministry.
Yours in Him,
Lt. Gen (Rtd) Sen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni, DSS, Fwc, mni, CFR
I felicitate with His Eminence, John Cardinal Olorunfemi Onaiyekan on your successful retirement as the Archbishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja.
Your retirement marks a resounding intense and spiralling priestly journey for 50 years since your ordination and becoming Nigeria’s conscientious voice.
You were a shining example of Christianity; a voice for the oppressed; and a priest with blunt and fiery sermons, constantly calling attention to the condition of the weak and vulnerable in society.
I hope and pray that your withdrawal from active working life will give you more quality time for deeper reflection on God’s marvellous grace and His eternal purpose for Nigeria in particular in these latter days.
Congratulations for a well-earned and honourable retirement.
Yours in the precious faith,
Lt. Gen. (Rtd) Sen. Jeremiah Timbut Useni, DSS, Fwc, mni, CFR.
In the light of the tragedy that struck Bokkos Local Government few days ago when fire engulfed one of its major markets with huge damages, Mr. Alfred Dapal sympathizes with the government and victims of the inferno. In the same vein, Mr. Dapal also salutes the courage of Sen. The victims of Bokkos market fire accident have tasted the bitter pills of such tragedy. I truly share their pains and express my heartfelt sympathy. It was with great shock that I received the news of the death of a hardworking, loyal and respectful son, BEKA MICHAEL DUNGTUR on Friday 8th November 2019. Words cannot describe my pains at the passing away of this vibrant, creative, humble and innovative Ngas son who passionately wanted to propagate Plateau cultural values and traditions and strived for only the best for his people.
We are however consoled by the fact that he left behind good legacies and is resting in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May his soul rest in perfect peace. Amen

The Court of Appeal sitting in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State on Monday nullified the election of the governor of the state, Seyi Makinde.
The court reversed the judgement of governorship election petition tribunal, which declared Mr Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, winner of the election.
However, the appellate court, however, did not give order for a fresh election.
President Muhammadu Buhari expresses deep sorrow at the passage of his ally and friend, a man he usually calls “the indomitable Tam David-West.” Professor Tamunoemi Sokari David-West, 83, was a consultant virologist of national and international standing. He served as Commissioner of Education in the old Rivers State, Minister of Petroleum and Energy under the Muhammadu Buhari military regime, and Minister of Mines, Power and Steel under Gen. Ibrahim Babangida regime. “He had an indomitable spirit, stood resolutely by whatever he believed in, and was in a class of his own,” says President Buhari of the academic, author of many books, and social critic. He commiserates with the David-West family, the people of Buguma, Kalabari Kingdom of Rivers State, the academia, and all those who loved “the forthright Tam David-West.” President Buhari prays that God will rest the soul of the committed nationalist, urging all those who believe in the ideals he espoused to approximate same, for the betterment of Nigeria, and humanity in general. It is still fresh from the bakery the baked and distributed figment of someone’s imagination attempting to hoodwink Plateau State citizens into buying and feasting on their bread of deceit that Governor Simon Bako Lalong hates the Berom nation. It is gradually becoming a norm that any democratically elected governor that is not of the Berom extraction is not good and their hater. It happened to Chief Joshua Dariye and now is happening to Governor Lalong. It is obvious that some conmen have infested our political scene and adopted a posture of divide and gain tactics to be tribal political champions. When Dariye was in power Jonah David Jang said so many bad things about his government and person. He claimed that Dariye’s bad leadership led to the 2001 ethno-religious crises, and questioned who was training the Fulani that were attacking the Berom. He called Dariye a thief that deserved to be in prison and not the senate. Jang and most of the Berom supported the state of emergency slammed on Dariye administration on 18th May, 2004. They were joyfully and religiously fully in support of the illegal impeachment against Dariye in November 2006 as can be seen from their mammoth crowd that paid homage to then governor Chief Michael Botmang. Jang and other Berom elders too paid homage exhibiting very high euphoria. They didn’t see the emergency rule as an attack on Plateau, likewise the illegal impeachment. But when there were attempts on Jang they started chanting that it was a plot to destroy Plateau. They aggressively resisted the emergency rule declared by the then President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Plateau North Senatorial District on Jang’s watch, until they were told that democratic structures will not be suspended. Even with that, there was an easy calm because they felt President Goodluck only humiliated their kinsman with declaration of the emergency rule. When Jang became the governor, he attacked Dariye’s legacies such as dissolving the local government development areas created by the Dariye administration; suspended Plateau State University, Bokkos until after a long running battle at the courts with Professor John Wade, that Jang was forced to reopen the university. In all that Jang did to and said about his predecessor most of the Berom were fully in support. A few were not, such as the Late Toma Jang who wrote a letter asking him to reopen the university he suspended. It is worthy of note that since the inception of the Fourth Republic, no gubernatorial candidate who contested with any Berom got their votes. In 1999 when Dariye contested with Yohana Dalyop, he lost to him. In 2003, Jang defeated Dariye in all Berom lands. In 2007, Jang won in all Berom lands though the major contender was Arch Pam Dung Gyang which both are Berom. In 2011, all Berom lands voted Jang against Pauline Tallen whom they called a prostitute and sellout. In 2015, the entire Berom lands gave their votes to late GNS Pwajok and not Lalong. In 2019, there was no Berom contender, so they voted for Jang’s party. The Goemai nation in 2011 did not vote along tribal lines. They voted for Jang at the expense of their own daughter, Pauline Tallen. You can compare the action of the Goemai and Berom in that regard when it comes to the issue of love and unity on the Plateau. Most Berom insult Lalong and accuse him of trying to cede Jos North to the Hausa Muslim community, but none blamed Jang for being the trailblazer of giving the Federal House of Representatives to them in 2003. The tsunami of Masara revolution that swept across Plateau North Senatorial District to unseat the umbrella in 2003 with Jang as gubernatorial candidate and Hon Sale Hassan for Jos North/Bassa House of Reps on the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP) platform gave them the leverage to be in the Green Chamber of the National Assembly. Since then no Christian won the seat till date. In 2008, Jang defied all pieces of advice not to conduct the Jos North Local Government elections. Crises erupted in Jos and its environs, most Berom did not blame him for the crises. Jang said he got the information that Dogo Nahawa will be attacked and told Major General Sale Maina then General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Armoured Division here in Jos but did nothing. They didn’t blame Jang for not seeking a better alternative to save lives, instead all the blames went to Maina. Jang did not visit Dogo Nahawa after the massacre of innocent people and nobody accused him of hating the people of Dogo Nahawa. It was under Jang that Mahanga finally fell into the hands of the Fulani. Most lands in Barkin Ladi and Riyom taken over by the Fulani were done under the Jang administration. None of them blame him rather the blame went to the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan administration, the Hausa/Fulani and other Plateau tribes whom they claimed folded their arms as their people were being killed. Jang lamented that why did God make him the governor at the time he woke up every morning to receive the sad news of his people being killed. Instead of asking him to resign for under providing security, a mantra was formed that the Berom were being killed because Jang is hated. Jang was welcomed and seen as a hero when he defeated Amaechi with 16 votes against 19. Coming down to Lalong. In what way is he hating the Berom? The Berom did not vote for him in 2015 and 2019. In fact most of them transferred the aggression of GNS Pwajok’s death on him. During the funeral service of Pwajok, Jonah Jang had to plea with them to listen to what Lalong will say because there were massive murmurings and they were unwilling to listen to him. Lalong set up a peace committee to bring to an end the skirmishes he inherited between the Fulani and Berom in some parts of Jos South, Riyom and Barkin Ladi Local Government areas. Lalong visited Dogo Nahawa to show that despite many years have gone after the evil done to them, his heart is with them. Unlike Jang who did not complete the uncompleted projects left behind by his predecessors but went ahead to destroy their legacies, Lalong did not victimize Jang by doing same. If the problem is giving Anaguta a First Class status, then the allegation that he hates Berom is absurd because leadership entails carrying everyone along. More so he did not declare that Jos North belongs to the Anaguta, but the Supreme Court did. Is it the chairmanship of Jos North given to Hausa? Where is the hatred towards Berom in that regard? Is it the appointment of Jos South, Riyom and Barkin Ladi transitional chairmen? They are all Berom, except if there are Berom that are more Berom, and those given are the inferior brand. If it is returning the refugees the government is working on that. Furthermore a Police Mobile Barrack is being set up in Garshish. To be fair to Lalong where and how is he victimising or hating Berom? THE POLARISATION OF PLATEAU WITH THIS ETHNICITY IS ONLY HARMING THE STATE MORE. KWAME NKRUMAH SAID, ” THE FORCES THAT UNITE US ARE INTRINSIC AND GREATER THAN THE SUPERIMPOSED INFLUENCES THAT KEEP US APART.” IT’S HIGH TIME WE LOOKED INWARDS, STAND FOR THE TRUTH AND PUSH FOR FORMIDABLE UNITY.

There’s no culture or tradition in Nigeria that you will find that is as beautiful as what you have seen here today. I want to thank the president of PSIDA & his team for putting together this wonderful occasion, it has been institutionalized & will be a yearly event.
I also want to say that the people of plateau have a lot to offer to Nigeria, we have human natural resources that cannot be found in any other part of Nigeria, plateau has the kind of climate that is conducive for growing exotic crops like Irish potatoes, apples, strawberries acha ( hungry rice), all our famous foods cannot be found in any part of Nigeria. That alone is a selling point for the state.
Plateau is blessed with solid minerals, virtually every local government has mineral deposits like copper, zinc in wase & other parts of the state can never be found in such large quantities in any other part of the country.
Plateau is blessed & we are poised to become one of the richest states in Nigeria by the grace of God.
I want us to continue in this spirit of unity, spirit of togetherness because it will not only promote harmony but it will promote development in our state. I believe anyone here who is not from plateau will wish he was from plateau & he will want to live, buy a house, settle or invest in plateau just by attending this occasion.
Plateau has so much to offer to Nigeria.
Thank God for the leadership in the house of representatives, we are blessed to have our son Hon Idris Ahmed Maje as the deputy speaker of the house. He is doing so much to bring power, electricity to us. He has promoted all of us, PDP / APC in the house of representatives & plateau is gaining so much because of him.
