Following the presentation of the 2020 Budget by President Buhari to the Joint Session of the National Assembly on Tuesday 08th October, 2019, the Senate commenced debate on the Budget in earnest.
Senator I.D. Gyang representing Plateau North had his tone on the floor of the Senate on Thursday 10th October, 2019 as transcribed hereunder;
“Mr. President, I rise to add my voice and that of my constituents to the 2020 Budget Debate on the floor of the Senate. A lot has been said about the fundamentals of the Budget. Mr. President, so much economic analysis, postulations and commentaries have been made on this Budget. Mr. President, I will spare us all that.
What Nigerians are interested in Mr. President is how this Budget will translate in real terms and in practical terms to address the;
Security situation in the country
Infrastructure deficit, and of course
Human Capital Development (Education and Health) among others, and in particular;
their safety from terrorist, bandits, kidnappers etc. Mr. President, there is palpable fear on the faces of Nigeria, from daily threats of insecurity that is why the allocation that has been made to defence, of One Hundred Billion naira to me, is grossly inadequate to the combined armed forces to address the critical issues of security in this country. I would request that the Senate take a look at the budget of defence.
How the Budget can translate to motorable roads, stable power supply and other basic infrastructure by implication, addressing the decay and gross deficit in our infrastructure is very critical to Nigerians Mr. President. This is what will spur small businesses and the productive sector. If we have stable power supply for their businesses to thrive, so that they can equally drive the economic growth.
Mr. President, we know that at the end of every Economic argument or debate, it is a political decision. The political will to implement the Budget and of course Budget making has to demonstrate fairness, equity and inclusivity.
For example, Mr. President, my constituents are deeply concerned about the poor showing of Plateau State in the Budget over the years and even in this one. This has been repeated this years budget. It is my desire that the Senate will address this imbalance and to make provision for the Akwanga-Jos-Bauchi Road, and equally facilitate the completion of the Jos Yakubu Gowon Airport Heipang.
Finally Mr. President, the issue of the cost of governance can be addressed partly through a drastic review of projects cost in our procurement processes. Presently, the costs are outrageously scandalous and this has to stop. I therefore urge this Senate to ensure that we take a look at our procurement cost and our project cost, on comparable basis vis-a-vis other countries.
On this note Mr. President, it is my concern that the security situation, the Infrastructure deficit and the procurement cost should be addressed as we will be deliberating on the details of the budget.”
Thank you Mr. President and my Distinguished colleagues.

Sequel to his meeting with educational stakeholders in Jos South/ East Federal constituency, Honorable Dachung Bagos paid a surprise visit to Government Secondary School, Chugwi, where he met with management and staff of the school as well as had an interface with the students. During the interface, he charged students to work hard as leaders of tomorrow and assured them of settling the school fees of the entire school this term.
In the course of the interaction, some students were emotional and shed tears of joy as the member shared the cheering news with them.
In line with his determined efforts at equipping the next generation, the honorable member selected two schools, one each from the two local governments to offset tuition fees for the term. This same gesture shall be extended to other schools every term until the end of his term in office as part of his modest gestures towards ensuring that his constituents have improved access to education.
It is a fact that the inability of parents and guardians to pay school fees of their wards remains one of the critical reasons why we have a rising percentage of out of school children from primary to secondary levels.
The principal on behalf of the school showed appreciation to the member for his kind gesture to these young ones and prayed for him.

In a bid to tear down this current administration through propagating falsehood, the opposition has now stooped so low by attacking the first family of Nigeria, President Buhari’s family.
The fabrication that His Excellency, President Muhammad Buhari will take a new wife resulting to the departure of the First Lady , Mrs Aisha Buhari out of the country is a crystal fallacy aimed and intended to break the family.
According to a reliable source close to the family, this misinformation created by the jobless opposition carries no iota of truth as it is aimed at destroying a strong tie,love affair and institution created by God Himself.
Therefore, such falsehood and propaganda should be disregarded and neglected as the tale was purposely designed to mislead and divert the attention of the general public from the good works of this administration.

Hon Phillip Dasun, member Representing the good people of Pankshin North in the Plateau State House of Assembly is set to commission two classrooms blocks renovated by him at LGEA primary school Nyelleng state ward of Fier District, Pankshin Local Government Area on Saturday 12th October 2019.
Dasun, a young politician and a first timer at the state assembly has written his name in gold by embarking on projects that have direct bearing on the people of his Constituency,
This is not the first project the young politician has done, he has reconstructed the Palace of the District Head of Pankshin which was commissioned by the Rt Hon Abok, Speaker, Plateau State House of Assembly and many other interventions.
Most often politicians are accused that they hardly keep to their words and cannot be trusted. This notion is entirely different with Distinguished Sen. H.A. Dimka. He hardly commit to something until he is very sure of making it work. He is exceptionally different from the rest of politicians who hardly keep their words. It is our prayer that God Almighty should continue to bless, guide and guard him on this noble path of proven honesty and capacity to keep to his words for the better and greater Plateau Central District. His first effort of distributing three trailer load of assorted fertilizer free of charge to his constituents revealed the kind of person he is in term of generosity. As we unveil other laudable programs for the Zone, we are very optimistic that the Zone would truly experience tremendous positive representation that put the constituents first and premium before any other thing. May God see us through!
