PRESS RELEASE

GOVERNOR LALONG CELEBRATES ANOTHER “JOS STAR” – RHODES SCHOLAR-ELECT, NWANGELE GODWIN.
Plateau State Governor Simon Bako Lalong has congratulated Nwangele Godwin, a 25 year old Nigerian winner of the 2020 Rhodes Scholarship for West Africa who was born and brought up in Jos.
With his selection, Nwangele Godwin becomes the second Nigerian and the fourth recipient of the prestigious Rhodes Scholarship from the sub-continent since its re-launch in 2017.
Godwin, an Electrical & Electronics Engineering graduate of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka was born in 1994 at the Ande Hospital and grew up in Tudun Wada area of Jos, Plateau State.
In a telephone call to Rhodes Scholar-Elect Nwangele, Governor Lalong expressed deep excitement on his achievement which is traced to Jos where he built his life’s early experience and knowledge base which has earned him the prestigious scholarship.
Lalong said “I congratulate you for being elected as a Rhodes Scholar which is a rare award that goes not only to the brightest, but to young people with dexterity and character that projects a future filled with hope and expectations”.
Lalong said this rare achievement is another testimony to the great minds that have emerged out of Plateau State and are making the country and the world proud.
“This achievement puts you in the exclusive list of great achievers that we are planning to celebrate during the Glorious Stars Event coming up in 2020 where we plan to tell the positive stories of Plateau State as we continue to rebrand and open up our potentials to the outside world. We are very proud of as a young ambassador of our State” the Governor explained.
He said the State realizes that the unfortunate crises of the recent past had sought to damage the hard-earned reputation and positive image of the State as the Home of Peace and Tourism as well as centre of learning, entertainment, sports and creativity.
This he said has to be countered with the right narratives which can be told simply and clearly by the testimonies of those who were groomed in Plateau State before being unleashed to the world where they made, and are still making huge impact.
The Governor encouraged Godwin to continue to be a good ambassador of Plateau State as he proceeds to Oxford University, United Kingdom, for his post graduate studies.
Godwin attended Albakans Pre-Science Private School, Tudun Wada-Jos before where he constantly maintained the top spot in his class and represented Plateau State at the NTIC Regional Mathematics Completion where he came tops, doing the State proud.
He went ahead to fly the colours of the State at the National Stage. He had his Secondary Education at St. John’s College, Jos where he also maintained top spot in his class, and also represented Plateau State at different competitions.
He later moved on to study Electrical Engineering at the University of Nigeria and graduated with a first class as the Best Graduating Student from the Faculty. He later received the COREN award as the Best Graduate Engineer in Nigeria for 2017.
He is currently carving out a niche in the renewable energy space of Africa, a dream he wants to live because of his love for mother earth, and the decision to join in the struggle to save earth and to redefine Africa.
Nwangele intends to study Energy Systems at Oxford and says his goal is to deepen his technical knowledge, enhance leadership skills, build valuable networks and develop a global strategy that would help to grow the vision of energy sustainability in Africa and beyond
Godwin was selected out of a total of 2,783 applications who registered as intending scholars for the 177 year old Rhodes scholarship which started in 1902 with past scholars including former US President Bill Clinton among other world leaders.
Godwin still lives the Jos dream of possibility even when it is thought to be very impossible.

EMMANUEL ZOPMAL’S RANT ON RT HON YUSUF ADAMU GAGDI IS CRAFTY AND MANNERLESS___BEGE WAKKAI

RE-EMMANUEL ZOPMAL’S RANT ON RT.HON.GAGDI

This is the second time Emmanuel Zopmal wrote on his FB page this year trying to demean and cast aspersions on the gigantic efforts of Hon.Gagdi done to the good people of PKK constituency.

The first time he wrote was his crafty and mannerless approach to tell the general public that he is not the one that Gagdi gave employment to, but his brother JOHN ZOPMAL. He frowned at such gesture to the extent of making ‘caveat emptor’ to warn the general public against calling and congratulating him because it was a mistaken identity.

His second vituperations was yesterday again on his FB page where he accused and abused the sensitivity of the Christian leaders and faith to gather in Pankshin at Nefur Arena to collect ordinary rice for Christmas.

He said and I quote:

‘What an insult on Christians in PKK that Hon. Yusuf Adamu Gagdi will have to gather them at Nefur Area Pankshin to collect ordinary rice for the Christmas.’

Let me correct this blatant lies that the gathering in Pankshin is not to collect ordinary rice but the main aim was the official unveiling of the legislative blueprint that will serve as a guide to change the narrative in PKK constituency.

If the distribution of Christmas items to the Christians community in PKK by Hon.Gagdi is an insult to the Christians, then Emmanuel’s rant has reached a peak of not only opposition, but hatred on Gagdi. After all, what is the meaning of Christmas? It is the period of merriment and to show love to one another, which Hon.Gagdi has fulfilled.

Yes to discountenance this rant in the right perspective and to correct the ill motive of Emmanuel on Gagdi. It is good to reel out some statistics here for him to understand that the gathering in Pankshin is not ordinary collection of rice but human empowerment, show of love and concern.

-1300 bags of rice were distributed and if this rice was bought at #18,000 each this will amount to #23.5m approximately.

-24 cows were distributed and if each cow will be bought at #140,000 then it will total #3.5m approximately.

-A promised-fulfilled by donating a car of 2.5m.

-Another promised-fulfilled by giving #500,000 each to two persons, one to a security man at FCE who helped and accommodated Hon.Gagdi when he first arrived at FCE Pankshin and hadn’t anywhere to sleep.

By my simple arithmetic, an expenditure of almost #30m was incurred and to any one who is in his senses this cannot be ordinary

These are other things that transpired yesterday and the like of Emmanuel will call it ordinary and tried to make an infantile comparison with the past Reps. This is unfortunate.

If by now Emmanuel has not known that style of leadership differs, then we have to admit him in a leadership class to tutor him and to know that Hon Gagdi is a charismatic, proactive and smart leader that do things different from other leaders who he is trying to make a comparison to.

Hon Gagdi is already popular because if you ask President Buhari who is Gagdi, I’m pretty sure he will tell you that, that man from Plateau-Kanam Bah – then what kind of popularity are you trying to say he is looking for that is cheap. If the Reps in the past could not spend 30m as Gagdi did yesterday how can they have the WILL to come out to organize a programme of such magnitude that you are querying?

If by today your myopic thought is still in doubt of Hon.Gagdi’s phenomenon in not only PKK, but but also in Plateau and Nigeria at large, then you need a second baptism for spiritual understanding and cleansing.
Hon.Gagdi is a registered company in the political arena of Nigeria that’s why if you say he is an MDA as an artificial person you are right.
In his registered company he has given employment to about 176 less-privilege masses including your blood-brother – or let me be specific, your immediate younger brother, John Zopmal.

If you are still in doubt that Hon.Gagdi did not issue appointment letters to people, then you are on a different planet and not in Nigeria for you to understand the intrigues of politics in Nigeria as regard to appointment. In short ask your brother.

In fact, my brother Emmanuel, there is no scam in all what Hon. Gagdi is doing. Do not sadistically and pessimistically wait for your precious time to watch out for any part 2 scam. Hon. Gagdi’s project is a total emancipation of our people in a blueprint that was presented yesterday.

We from AJEGOG as we preach justice to all, equity to all and fairness to all, as we saw Hon.Gagdi doing yesterday.
