The attack on Plateau State Government by the Plateau State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is nothing but absurd tirade and farce breed by shame, envy and jealousy. The press statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, John Akans, dated 4th April, 2020, titled “PLATEAU STATE IN A PRECARIOUS STATE. DEVASTATED BY A FAILED LEADERSHIP” and made available to journalists, only reveals the frustration and nakedness of the state chapter of the PDP and lies its members hold unto as a means of politicking which came into being since the political pirates unseat the patriotic founders of the party and ushered in the most deadly and devastating political style that plunged Plateau into democratic dung pit, economic ashes and ethno-religious crises ridden state. The PDP is expected to appreciate the benevolence of Governor Lalong in his gigantic strides in stemming insecurity in Plateau State and rekindling the flames of peaceful coexistence the state once enjoyed before the advent of the current crop of the PDP into Plateau mainstream politics. It is amazing and pitiable to read and hear the PDP claiming love for Plateau State. This is the same party that moved for the imposition of the perverted state of emergency on the state on May 18, 2004. The same party moved for its extension if not for General Yakubu Gowon’s intervention when he pleaded with then President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo for the lift of the emergency rule as a birthday gift. The same party executed illegal impeachment on Dariye led administration to get to power. How would a party which justifies illegality claims patriotism? After the emergency rule Plateau State enjoyed peace for a span of three years and some months until when this current structure of the PDP took over power in 2007. A year and some months into its reign the gates of hell opened very wide and blood thirsty demons took over and the state knew no peace for their eights years sojourn in government. It all started when the PDP administration embarked on conducting the 2009 Local Government elections and was warned by stakeholders and the State Security Service (SSS) not to conduct Jos North Local Government elections. But it was defiant and went ahead and conducted the elections. Since the uprising that greeted the elections the state got into insecurity status. In the midst of insecurity, in 2012 a peace parley was held in Hill Station Hotel Conference Hall and a retired DIG of Police advised the PDP administration to have a sitting with the Ulamas of Jos North and Christian clergy to address the issue of insecurity squarely, but Governor Jang said he won’t do it. And that if Ulamas and clergy have problems they should contact the Gbong Gwom. He said when the Operation Rainbow becomes fully operational it will address insecurity and bring peace. When the PDP administration heard of the possible attack on Dogo Nahawa, the only thing the administration did was to claim that it informed the General Officer Commanding 3Armoured Division, General Saleh Maina who refuted the claim. The administration admitted it got the information, but how did it safeguard the lives of the people of Dogo Nahawa? What security measures did the PDP administration put in place to protect lives and properties aside massive protests by its members that they want the STF replaced with Mobile Police? Finally Jang who made bogus claims that his Military experience will help him bring peace in the state, ended up crying and blaming God for making him a governor just to wake up every morning to hear that his people are killed. The annoying thing was the PDP administration was a darling and paddy of the presidency, which was a great advantage to the state in providing security, but it blatantly failed to due to bankruptcy of ideas on how to bring peace. The PDP administration eluded peace amongst the tribes in Plateau. Which tribe will want its promoted traditional paramount stool reverted to its former status quo? Which areas would want their newly created districts scrapped? Which areas would want their newly created local government development areas dissolved? Which community will want a university sited there dissolved? All these provocative ingredients of war were mixed in Plateau’s broth by the PDP administration. The PDP lost its grip on the Plateau because of its selfish policy against the state. It blatantly abused the gentleman agreement of power rotation and insisted that power must be retained in Du. When Lalong came on board as governor, he exhibited grand leadership qualities which are; leadership by not taking sides, and continuum in governance. Rev Jesse Jackson said, “Leadership has a harder job to do than just choose sides. It must bring sides together.” As Chief security officer of the state Lalong set up a peace and reconciliation committee to end attacks between the Berom versus the Fulani in some parts of Riyom, Barkin Ladi and Jos South Local Government Areas. When peace started returning, the PDP rushed for a press conference on May 30, 2017, and condemned the return of peace saying the state is sitting on a keg of gun powder. Other peace initiatives of the Lalong administration include; construction of Mobile Police Barracks in Shendam, Airforce base in Kerang and Peace Watch Tower in Dutse Uku. He set up Peace Building Agency and Community Policing. These efforts are commendable and only insanity will view such efforts as farce. The refugees he inherited from the PDP administration have been returned to their ancestral homes and a Mobile Police Barracks is being constructed at the volatile area in Gashish, Barkin Ladi. Lalong is completing the projects he found on ground. That is a quality the PDP administration didn’t exhibit. This shows he wants peace with the PDP and has recognized the projects they executed, unlike the PDP’s attack on Dariye’s legacies which only nonsensical and irresponsible government will do. On the issue of Coronavirus, Lalong has done well in seeking and quarantining suspects who turned out to be negative. He has set up treatment areas in all the zones of the state despite no case is found yet. Can the PDP tell us the efforts of its administration against the Ebola when George Sawyer brought it to Nigeria? What did they do no matter how little? I guess they were waiting until the water level reached our neck before they act, whereas Chinua Achebe said, “If you find water rising up to your ankle, that’s the time to do something about it, not when it’s around your neck.” Kudos to Governor Lalong for observing Achebe’s submission and the saying, “Early preparation avoids regret.” God saved us from the Ebola using the relentless efforts of then Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, if not, with the unpreparedness of the PDP administration on the Plateau, we would have been in a burning hell of Ebola epidermic. It is right for Lalong to carry everyone along during this period of pandemic particularly the patriots. As for the PDP I will advise him to dine with them with a long spoon that’s the truth! As for recent attacks in some parts of Bassa, it is wrong to say he is not arresting suspects. It was in search of the assailants that Ardos and villages chiefs were arrested after the attack in Bokkos this year. The recent attacks in some parts of Bassa are unfortunate, and disheartening. Our security operatives should intensify efforts to restore peace, and it’s my earnest prayer that God should expose the attackers and their sponsors to be arrested.
As the World continue to battle with the COVID-19, with Nigeria having 210 total confirmed case and 4 deaths so far recorded nationally, the Member representing Jos South/Jos East Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Rep. Dachung Bagos has called on the Federal Government through the National Centre of Disease Control to establish more testing centres especially in Plateau State to attend to suspected case more efficiently and swiftly.
Rep. Bagos said though Plateau State is yet to record any confirmed case, it is vital to have a testing centre in the State to attend to influx of persons into the State from State with confirmed cases.
He said the testing centre will help to produce fast result instead of going to other parts of the Country to carry out test for COVID-19.
“It is worrisome that persons who ordinarily should had self-quarantined coming from high risk COVID-19 State are already with other people in the State” “There is need to place such persons under close watch and examination until they are medically sound and COVID-19 free to be allowed to mingle with other innocent persons, it is extremely risky allowing them just mingle” he said.
While lauding the restrictions deployed by the Federal Government to prevent wide spread of the scourge, Rep. Bagos said the action was long overdue. He said the FG could had placed travel ban when a case was confirmed to avoid spread. He said the Country is recording cases lately on account of contact with carriers which could had been avoided long ago. He called for holistic contact tracing in order to get people who may had contracted the He and have not submitted themselves for isolation and testing but spreading to innocent persons.
He urged people to comply with government sit-at-home directive saying it is for their good. He called on the people to practice social distancing and ensure they adhere to all tips advised by health professional to prevent contact and spread.
ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS (APC), PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER

PRESS RELEASE
BETWEEN FACTS, AND PDP’s IRRATIONAL POSTULATION
Ordinarily, we wouldn’t have any cause to contemplate responding to the irrational, wishful and nonchalance attitudes of the People’s Democratic Party’s political gimmicks, at this most trial moments of the state, national and global tragedy.
From the on set, every sensible human being has understand the efforts been put in place by this APC lead administration of Simon Lalong, all in trying to protect the lives of Plateau citizens, applying both proactive and stringent measures at one time or another.
It is important to highlight the facts that no Government in Plateau State has accord utmost priority to the security and safety of its citizens, like that of APC-Lalong administration. It is glaringly clear that lots of security measures, community dialogues and to some extent drastic measures of even arresting community and Hardo leadership at any giving attacks on innocent people.
The PDP, should not shelved its ignorance of the fact that its alleged, “herders must be APC members,” as it is again a plain truth that herders or whoever the killers are, they do not have regards to which political party one belongs to, rather they attack whoever they perceived as their enemy. Where was the PDP when between 2007-2015, uncountable lives were killed, with attacks unabated till the emergence of the APC-Lalong administration.
Again it is a fact that despite the couples of attacks, people are enjoying more of peaceful coexistence than what was obtainable prior to this administration.
Even as we condemned any attack and killings including the most recent one on our people, yet we make bold to say, making arrests of suspects shoulders on the security operatives, whom we trust are doing their utmost best to safeguard the lives of all in the state.
The PDP should understand better that it is not apt timing, for political gimmicks and the issue of security is sacrosanct, which should not be dragged to plain political lines to the detriment of the citizens, which its claimed to have loved, but failed in its days to protect.
On the issue of Corronavirus pandemic, the APC-Lalong, administration has put in place several measures that are aiding in preventing the occurrence of the disease in our state.
Recall that we swiftly put the Chinese citizens that came into our state and our citizens working with them on quarantine, whose end results was successfully negative. We further put in place several isolation centers within the three geopolitical zones of the state, even without a single confirmed case of the disease in our state.
The APC-Lalong administration, has directed for the procurement of additional ventilators and other medical equipments, as well as sets up endowment fund, besides the necessary requisites measures that will see to the prevention of the occurrence of the disease based on health experts recommendations in conformity with the international best measures, all in not only show of concerned but full care about the life and safety of our citizens.
Corronavirus as a world pandemic, which has both health and economic implications on countries, States and individual person’s endeavours, which Plateau State is not exceptional and therefore, the PDP should be wisely enlightened.
In furtherance of all, it is true that Governor Simon Lalong, has summoned a stakeholders meeting, where he met with the members of the State House of Assembly, at which both APC and PDP members attended, as led by their speaker, however, to our dismay the PDP, in its shameful characteristics has said, “but (sic), APC members were invited to project his performance.”
What more could be mere bewilderments and postulation from the PDP, than it discarding the present of its members, whom were conspicuously present, and for the record notable among whom were; Hon. Daniel Nonbol Listic, Hon. Easter Simi Dusu and Hon. Tyem Pirfa.
We seek to know wither they are not genuine members of the PDP, or is the PDP’s house not in good order, to warrant not having debriefing from members on such significant issues at hand, or did it acted based on ignorance or open quest for relevance after long of its slumber?
Reflecting on how the APC-Lalong, inherited almost zero kobo in the coffers of government from the PDP’s ruined resources which left the state in very bad financial status, with almost a year of workers salaries backlogs, myriads of unfinished roads projects, moribund industries and tertiary institutions among others. Yet Lalong has been able to settled all the backlog of salaries and is consistently paying salaries as at when due.
It is on records that Plateau State University Bokkos, has been back with citizens benefitting, the Bokkos fertilizer plant is put back to work, among others. And all the unfinished roads projects were completed by the APC-Lalong administration.
Plateau citizens can better explain that our administration has in place ongoing legacy projects spread across the 17 LGA’s of the State, should the PDP’s blind foulded eyes, could not see, we direct them to ask the people.
Budgets are projections, wherein good intentions are expressed to execute projects, but such a projection is only achieved with availability of anticipated financial resources, which are indeed not favourable to us within the period in references by the PDP.
We concludes that the PDP’s statements are more of hypes aimed at distracting the attention of both the State government and the general public away from the reality of our times, and while we urge for the public to discard its, we also hope and pray that both the unfortunate killings as well as the monster of Corronavirus pandemic, will soon be overcome.
We enjoy all to continue to adhere to health experts advises and all safety nets against the COVID-19.
Signed: Malam Bashir Musa Sati, State Secretary, Dip law, LL.B (Honours), 05/04/2020.
PEOPLE’S DEMOCRATIC PARTY, ( PDP). PLATEAU STATE CHAPTER, 20/2 YAKUBU GOWON WAY OPP NTA JOS.
APRIL 4th 2020.
Press statement.
PLATEAU STATE IN A PRECARIOUS STATE. DEVASTATED BY A FAILED LEADERSHIP.
Our dear Plateau state is at present in a precarious state. Despite the danger our people are facing as a result of this corona pandemic, our people have been subjected to attack everyday by the unknown Fulani herder’s without efforts from the state government to protect the people or to arrest the criminals.
As at today no arrest has been made. With this, the people of plateau are at present living in danger as a result of lethargic behavior from the Governor in both fight against herders and this current dreaded virus, the attitude displayed by the APC and and top government officials does not reflect the reality of what other states are doing in safeguarding its citizens across political divides. This must change.
Last week the Governor invited stakeholders for a briefing, we were shocked that at this critical time where all hands must be on deck, we were made to understand that only APC members were invited to be briefed on measures taken by government to stop the possible spread of this virus which is a thing of great concern to the entire world without any segregation. With this attitude, Governor Lalong has not demonstrated expected visibility and inclusiveness to give hope and direction as well as to continue protecting life’s and properties of our dear people particularly the defenseless people at the rural areas who are being attacked constantly by suspected Fulani herders & who also solely rely on government not a political partyfor its health care & enlightenment.
It is evidently and soundly clear that the government of Lalong and the APC has failed to douse the already existing public apprehension at this difficult time when the public space is awash with uncertainties, the government and the APC in the state have not shown genuine leadership in the fight against the enemies of the people who are killing us everyday, and also this current unseen but dreaded pandemic virus. Instead, we see them in what seems like a cat walk competition on a runway, like bulimic models seeking for attention and approval from hapless demoralized plateau people.
The failure of this present APC leadership has continued to endanger the lives of our people with a clear manifestation that the APC and Governor Lalong are only interested in their party, because that is the only virus they know and understand which has infected their thinking faculty to the extent that they only think of what matters to them and who gets protected from COVID 19 and herders must be APC members. What a pity!
We are shocked by the presentation made by the APC economic team at what was supposed to be a general stakeholders meeting on COVID 19 awareness by Governor Lalong on proactive measures taken by government to stop the spread of coronavirus eg where the isolation centre is located in the state etc but APC members were invited to project his performance, at the time the Governor is supposed to save life’s (Haba jama’a).As expected and to the publics greatest amazement his invited team was able to project his performance to be at 25% for the year 2020
Our worry as a party with this projection is that even when there was no Coronavirus ( COVID 19) in the year 2016, 2017 , 2018 to 2019, Governor Lalong performed below 25%.
The question is…how will a government with poor budget implementation for the past four(4) years succeed?
The poor implementation of budget for the past four years is enough evidence that the APC has failed and will continue to fail in the next three coming years.
The leadership of the people’s Democratic party, under Hon Yakubu Gwott Chocho, advises the APC leadership at this critical time to shun political scheming aimed at scoring cheap political sympathy and join hands with well meaning stakeholders in the state to fight this scourge and the continuous killings of our dear people in the state. As a party we are optimistic that despite such clear manifest of collective leadership failure at this critical time from APC and its government, our party is confident that we shall overcome these challenges.
We call on the good and resilient plateau men, women, youth and children not to be overcome by fear and anxiety but to remain heedful to personal hygiene and social distancing regulations as well as extend charity to one another, while also praying for divine intervention from God Almighty at this perilous time.
We know that the loss of positive things have changed against our wellbeing and is still changing to that direction right now. But what hasn’t changed is our commitment to serving and defending you rightly as a party.
